Lawrence 'Larry' Demerath

Lawrence (Larry) E. Demerath A funeral service will be held at 6:30pm on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Mueller Funeral Home in Grafton for Larry Demerath, who passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2011. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00pm until the time of the service. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grafton on Thursday. Larry was born on August 14, 1939 at his home in Thiensville, Wisconsin. He graduated from Shorewood High School in 1957. He married Janet Mudler on April 25, 1964. Larry had a fulfilling career in the automotive industry that began in high school and he held many positions at car dealerships until he retired earlier this year. Larry had no shortage of hobbies and interests that kept him busy throughout his life. He loved the outdoors, especially spending time at his cabin in Crivitz, where he would hunt, fish, photograph nature and just get away. His favorite part about it was that it brought his family together and allowed him to hunt with his son, son-in-laws and grandsons. He also loved watching and photographing the birds, deer and bears around his cabin. Larry was a born “tinkerer”. He was always working to improve and remodel his cabin and added numerous features to his bass boat. Larry was famous for having gadgets that most everyone else could not figure out. He loved computers and technology, especially his GPS mapping and the music on his MP3 player. Larry and his son spent many, many hours on woodworking projects together, building a grandfather clock, gun cabinets and other furniture and pieces. He enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers. He put 100% into things that he was passionate about. He will be missed greatly. Larry is survived by his wife, Janet; children Theresa (Gary) Schuette, Mary (Mark) Demler and Bryan (Julie) Demerath; cherished grandchildren, Bradley (Kasey) Omon, Jaron Omon, Michelle Demler, Christopher Olson, Sean Olson, Matthew Demler, Nicholas Olson, Allison Demerath, Jacob Demerath and Brianna Schuette; brothers, Jim (Ruth); Jerry (Judy) and John (Edie); sister Arylene (Steve) DeLoach; sisters-in-law, Fran Demerath; Jackie (Don) Iannarelli; brother-in-law, Dennis (Gail) Mudler, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He will also be missed dearly by his up north buddy and granddog, Belle. Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Demerath. The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. John Burfeind and his staff at the Columbia St. Mary's Cancer Center. Memorials to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society appreciated.
