John Joseph Chmela

John J. Chmela June 11, 1918 August 2, 2009. John is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Katherine (nee Manning), his loving daughters, Patricia Kay Holzbauer and Kristine (Dale) Duckert, his proud grandchildren, Peter J. (Fran) Balistrieri, Todd J. (Kelly) Holzbauer and Nicole Holzbauer and his two great grandboys, Dominic and Maddox Balistrieri as well as his three grand dogs and three grand cats. After 30 years of service, John retired in 1983 from the Welding Research Lab at A.O. Smith as a Senior Welding Engineer where he was instrumental in the development of U.S. Navy nuclear submarine welding technology as well as the Canadian pipeline. He was a member of the American Welding Society for 30 years and proudly served his country in the Army Corps. We know he is fishing every day and he will be missed for his witty and feisty ways.
