John Henry Butz

A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010, at 11:00AM at Evergreen Cemetery, 2221 Michigan Ave., Manitowoc, for John Henry Butz, of Cedarburg and formerly of Grafton, who died on October 28, 2010, at the age of 90 years. Pastor Brent Halverson of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Cedarburg, will officiate. Memorials in Johns name may be made to the Evergreen Cemetery Memorial Tree Program. John was born in Manitowoc on December 31, 1919, the son of Edwin and Eda (nee Arnsdorf) Butz. John graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc. His education at the University of Wisconsin was interrupted by his service in the US Army. While stationed in Texas, John married June Robinson on January 15, 1945. Serving his country during World War II, he participated in the occupation duty of Japan. After the war, John completed his education in the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy in 1948. He had a 40 year career as a pharmacist, owning drug stores that served and cared for the health needs of the rural communities of Oxford, Westfield, Adams, Chilton and Kiel. John is survived by his children Dr. J. Barrickman (Elli) Butz and Robinson J. (Jane) Butz; daughter-in-law Gail Butz; sister Ruth (Earl) Kurtz; sisters-in-law Doris Kimmel, Gerri (Glenn) Hammer and Mary Robinson; brother-in-law Al Otten; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, June B. Butz; his son Stephen K. Butz and his sister Margaret Mary Butz. Lutheran Church, Cedarburg; Dr. Kenneth Jensen; the staff of Cedar Gardens; the staff of Home Instead Senior Care and the staff of Heartland Hospice.
