John E. Eckhart “Ecky” age 75, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2023, with his family by his side.
John was born on July 20, 1948, in Milwaukee to the late William and Ruth (nee Kaliebe) Eckhart. He attended St. Paul Lutheran Grade School and went on to graduate from Grafton High School. John was united in marriage to the late Carol Beach, on April 20, 1968. Their marriage was blessed with three children, John, Brent and Rachael.
For most of his adult life, John worked at Evinrude Outboard Motors in Milwaukee, where he was a dedicated employee for 30 years. John was not a man to sit idle so after retiring from Evinrude, he worked at 4X Services as a warehouse manager for about ten years. He ended his working years delivering cars for multiple dealerships including 5 Corners GMC, Ernie Von Schledorn and Somers. John loved to drive and he really enjoyed his job delivering cars throughout Wisconsin and various cities in other parts of the country.
John will be remembered as a loyal husband, a loving, dedicated father and grandfather, and a kind and generous man. He loved to laugh and have fun. His laugh was infectious and could be heard throughout the room. He was known for his sayings that he would use over and over that came to be known as “Eckyisms.” One that he used often was “I’d rather be seen than be viewed.” The time has finally come for him to be viewed.
John is survived by his beloved children, Brent Eckhart and Rachael (Todd) Boesch and he was the fiercely proud and loving “Papa” of John and William Boesch. He is also survived by his sisters, Kathie Langlois and Pat Heller, sisters-in-law, Mary Eckhart, Karen Fellerer, Barbara Rebstock, and Diane Melotte, and brother-in-law, Dan Bertram. John was preceded in death by his parents William and Ruth, his wife Carol, his son John, and his siblings; William “Swifty” Eckhart and Christine “Tina” Bertram, and brother-in-law, Melvin Beach. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023, 2:00 PM at the Mueller Funeral Home, in Grafton. A visitation will take place at Mueller Funeral Home on Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials of your choice are appreciated.
