John C. "Jack" Dunfee

John C. “Jack” Dunfee, of Cedarburg, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at the age of 81 years. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 30, 2018, 6PM at St. Francis Borgia North Catholic Church (1375 Covered Bridge Rd.), in Cedarburg. The Rev. Brent Halverson will officiate the services. Jack will be in state on Monday, at the church, from 3PM until 5:45PM. A private committal will take place at Zur Ruhe Cemetery, in Cedarburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church, in Cedarburg, are appreciated. Jack was born on March 6, 1937 in Crystal Falls, Michigan. He grew up under the care of his parents and grandparents. He learned his love for the outdoors as a youth in the woods and waters of upper Michigan. Jack met the love of his life in 1954, and moved to Milwaukee to pursue his future. Jack was united in marriage to Cecelia Polivka on April 23, 1955, and their marriage was blessed with 7 children and eventually 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Jack started his business career by buying a small window cleaning business, Economy Window Cleaners, from his then-employer. As with many things in his life, Jack was self-taught and he developed the window cleaning business into a full-blown glass shop glazier business known as Economy Glass. Although he never had any formal training, Jack became an accomplished glazier and businessman. The one thing that resonated throughout Jack’s life was a strong work ethic. Even at the age of 81, on the day of his death, he was working in the business which he so loved. When he wasn’t busy working, Jack’s pastimes and hobbies included traveling, fishing, maple syruping, and spending time with his family and friends. Jack never met a conversation he didn’t like. His outgoing nature made him many friends over the years. He always had a smile for everyone. Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Cecelia (nee Polivka) Dunfee, his children: Jeanne (Ben Helvensteijn) Dunfee, Cheryl (Michael) Young, Laura (David) Swarbrick, John (Sue) Dunfee, Melanie (Curt Rupnow) Dunfee, and Craig (Katie) Dunfee; grandchildren: Hilary (Dan) Alderfer, Dave, Matt (Leigh Anne), Eric, and Will Swarbrick, Paul (Madeline), Kyle, Elizabeth, and Nathan Dunfee, Casey, Megan, and Taylor Lewis, Joshua, Calvin, and Shawn Rupnow and Olivia, Anna, and Eleanor Dunfee; and great-grandchildren, Caroline and Annabeth Swarbrick. He is further survived by many other friends and relatives. Jack was preceded in death by his son, Larry Dunfee, parents, John Dunfee and Jean Dunfee-Kallio, and step-father, Carl Kallio.
