Joanne J. Conwell

Joanne Joyce Conwell (nee Bublitz) went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on Friday, March 17, 2017. She was born on September 28, 1932 in Milwaukee. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Edna (nee Stewart) Bublitz and sister to brothers Rodney, Jack, Paul, Neil, Timm, Phillip and one sister, Donna. Her family moved from Milwaukee to Grafton when she was 14, where she attended Grafton High School. She married Paul Conwell on July 15, 1950 and they had seven children together. She was preceded in death by her 3-old daughter Linda Mae who went to be with the Lord in 1958, her husband Paul and brothers Phillip, Neil and Paul. Joanne enjoyed being a homemaker and mother. In the 1970’s she was a member of the Grafton Jaycettes participating in their many community activities. She also played on a Wednesday night women’s bowling league at Schanen’s, later known as the Grafton Bowl. She was also fond of gardening and spent many hours creating gardens and a pond in her yard which was her sanctuary. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she would fill the house with lovely decorations, a Christmas village and spend hours decorating the tree until it was perfect for her family and friends to enjoy. In addition, she would start weeks in advance baking dozens of varied and delicious cookies, of which many of the recipes have been passed down to her children and grandchildren who also bake them each year. Joanne was a member of Fellowship Bible Church in Grafton for many years and later when it became Cedar Creek Community Church. She was also involved in Bible studies held at her home. She came to know Jesus as her Savior and followed in His footsteps for 35 years until her death. At the time of her death she was a resident of St. Mary’s Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon. The family would like to thank the many caring individuals for their kind and compassionate care in making her and the family comfortable in her final days. We can’t speak enough kind words. Thank you. Joanne was happiest surrounded by her family, children and grandchildren and was very proud of each and every one of them.
