Joan M. Menzia, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on February 2, 2025, in Mequon, WI, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 22, 1947, in Milwaukee, WI, Joan touched the lives of many with her wonderful and supportive personality.
She graduated from Rufus King High School in Milwaukee in 1965. On April 17, 1971, she married her beloved husband, Roger Menzia, at Our Lady Lord's Parish in Milwaukee. Together, they created a beautiful life, living in their forever home in Grafton, WI for 46 years.
Joan exemplified the essence of motherhood, being a great mother who was deeply involved in the lives of her children. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Roger Menzia; their son Tom (Ann) Menzia, and daughter-in-law Jennifer Menzia; grandchildren Dominic, Carina, and Annamaria; and great-granddaughter Serenity. Joan's generous spirit extended well beyond her immediate family, as she is further survived by many family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
An extraordinary cook and baker, Joan's meals often brought family and friends together, as she found joy in sharing her talents. In addition to her culinary skills, she enjoyed sewing, playing cards, and fishing up north, where she created cherished memories with her loved ones.
Joan was preceded in death by her father, Norman Schaus; her mother, Lucille Fleming; and her son, William Menzia.
A visitation will be held on February 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 1619 Washington Street, Grafton, WI, with a funeral service following at 12:00 PM. Joan will be laid to rest at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery on February 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church are appreciated.
Joan M. Menzia will be remembered for her immense love, support, and the light she brought into the lives of those around her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
