Birkholz, Joan K. “Mrs. B” (nee Steffes) found peace Saturday morning June 16th. Joan is survived by her devoted children, Beth (Joe) Bothe and Mark (Jessica) Birkholz. Beloved and coolest grandma to Lindsey, Cameron, Emily, Jerod, Shawn, and AJ. She is also survived by a brother and sisters-in-law, Al and Joan Steffes, Marge Steffes, Vicki Steffes, and Geraldine Birkholz. There are many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and students to remember her and cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers and sisters, various in-laws and other relatives who were waiting to deal her in for a game of Sheepshead. She is finally reuniting with the love of her life and soulmate Gerald “Jerry” who passed away in 2000. Joan was a teacher all of her life. She even met her future husband at a teacher social. She taught at several different schools. The last and longest was at St. Eugene School in Fox Point. Joan also loved to travel. She traveled with Jerry all over. From their honeymoon out west and meeting George Burns to being on the David Letterman Show to staying in a hut in Costa Rica and more recently, accidentally ending up in the middle of the Jackass movie premiere after party. A visitation will take place on Friday, June 22, 2018, from 2-4PM at the San Camillo Chapel (10200 W. Bluemound Rd.), Milwaukee. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 4PM. A private entombment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society, the Alzheimer’s Association, or Cedar Community Foundation, in West Bend.
