Jerry was born on August 9, 1943, in Milwaukee, to the late Michael J. and the late Grace L. (nee Jeffrey) Skopek. In 1962 Jerry enlisted into the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force Jerry was a driver’s training instructor. In 1964 Jerry married the love of his life on November 28, 1964, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, in Milwaukee. They were blessed with 3 daughters, Peggy, Amy and Kathy.
Jerry always made his decisions based on the good of the family. Countless times, he was the repairer of wounds and was strong for everyone. He was a loving, caring, warm and tender husband, father, and grandfather. He was a good and loyal friend to many.
In addition to being a devoted family man, Jerry was an avid outdoorsman spending his leisure time hunting and fishing with his friends and most of all his grandson Joey. Jerry also enjoyed traveling with his wife Chris to many destinations including a memorable trip to Yellowstone National park and Italy to visit Rome.
He enjoyed imparting his knowledge, taking his children and grandchildren on trips, giving his family everything that he was able to provide. Jerry always strove to give his family more and the best lives possible. Jerry’s light turned on when he saw his kids and grandkids happy. To that end, he did everything and he would do anything for them. In fact, the love light of his grandchildren was so bright, visceral even, that it would fill the room. He was so individually delighted and proud of each of his beloved grandchildren. Seeing the genuine and pure joy and love in his eyes when he was with them, will be an inspiration forever.
