Jerald “Jerry” John Strauss, 81, of Cedarburg passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at his home. Jerry was born on May 29, 1938 in Harvey, North Dakota the son of Sylvia (Nee Duda) Reshel and the late Francis Strauss. Early in his childhood Sylvia and Jerry moved to Milwaukee. Graduating from Cedarburg High School in 1958, Jerry enlisted in the US Air Force where he proudly served for 6 years. After being honorably discharged, he entered trade school to become a Lithographer and was a member of the Graphic Arts International Union. He spent his career in the printing departments at Continental Can and Tecumseh until he retired in 2001. Jerry met his wife Marion (Koszuta) Strauss and they married on October 14, 1967 at Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Milwaukee. He found pleasure traveling the United States and the World. He enjoyed camping, the outdoors and tending to his yard. He was an active member at his health club in Grafton. Jerry was a proud member of the National Corvette Museum for the last 15 years. He was a loving and engaging father and grandfather, and a dedicated husband. He is survived by his wife, Marion; children: Timothy (Tracie) of Granger IN, Scott of Sheboygan, and Katrina (Christopher) Prosperi of Mount Prospect IL. Jerry cherished his grandchildren, Adam and Jacob Strauss; Eleanor and Heidi Prosperi. Jerry is also survived by his mother, Sylvia Reshel; his siblings: Sherry Seitz, James (RoseAnn) Reshel, Cindy (Bill) Strassburger, Michael Reshel, Julie (Jim) Dziatkiewicz, Bonnie (Dale) Ehrendreich, Laurie Reshel and many nieces, nephews and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by Leonard Reshel. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019 – 5:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church 1619 Washington St. Grafton with military honors immediately following Mass. Fr. Michael Barrett officiating. Family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 3:00 PM – 4:45 PM. Inurnment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Mequon. In Lieu of flowers, donations to the St Joseph Parish Los Toros Mission Fund are appreciated. The family would like to offer their sincere gratitude to the amazing staff of Aurora Health Care in Grafton and would also like to thank the Horizon Hospice Staff and Nurses for their care and compassion.
