After saying her daily Rosary in the late afternoon of August 15, 2019, Jeanne soared to the heavens from her happiest place by the lake at Jackson’s Lakeside Cottages in St. Germain, Wisconsin. Jeanne started going to Jackson’s from the time she was a small child with her parents (who were great friends with the owners at the time, George and Janet Jackson) and siblings. The tradition carried on throughout the years with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren cousins, whomever could make it year after year. Jeanne was born in Blue Island, Cook County, Illinois on October 23, 1937 to the late Robert and Irene (Ostendorf) Boak. By 1940 the family moved to Shorewood, Wisconsin and then on to Cedarburg, Wisconsin. Jeanne was a 1956 graduate of Cedarburg High School where she met and fell in love with the handsome football player, Danny D. Elbe from Thiensville. Loving and devoted wife to Danny Elbe for the past 61 years, they settled their family in the town of Cedarburg where they have resided for the past 54 years. Jeanne loved all of her children, grand-children, great-grandchildren with great abandon! She also loved all those kids who came through the doors of her home throughout the years. Always welcoming anyone into her home. As a young wife and mother she did gardening, canning, made homemade noodles and bread, cooked many meals, sewed many clothes, knitted, crocheted, wiped away many a tear, laughed and played, and just loved spending time with her family and friends enjoying her home and the country life. She especially got a kick out of calling her children home from their adventures around the homestead with her cow bell. This is a memory that will always be a treasure! Jeanne said her Rosary daily for years and prayed for everything and everyone! Jeanne and Danny also enjoyed many, many years fishing together, some of their greatest adventures of all! Oh, the fish stories! Jeanne worked as a young girl at Gimbels Schuster in Downtown Milwaukee. When the children became a bit older, she worked at Grafton Woolen Mills, She was the “Silver Fox” of Five Corners Mini Mart where she became the store manager at Five Corners Hardware Store until they closed. After this she worked a bit at Grafton McDonald’s before retiring. Though she and Danny experienced heartache through the years with the loss of their son, D.R, and many other relatives and friends. They persevered. She was a Survivor! Jeanne is survived by her loving husband, Danny D. Elbe and their children: Jeff (Deb) Elbe, Mari-Kay (Pete) Buchholz, Ted (Barb) Elbe, Lisa Elbe, Christopher (Tracey) Elbe, Laura (Kevin) Kuerschner. Grandchildren: Cori (Mike), Jake (Kaity), Sam, Abby, Ben, Emily, Andrew, Mitch (Kelly), Alexandrea (Kim) Jack, Ryan, Kimberly, Matthew, Kyle, Miranda (Doug), and Cody Ann. Great-grandchildren: Keegan, Rowan, Madeline, Kenzleigh, Isabella (Bella), Audriana (Dwee) and Elliot. Further survived by many other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her son, Dan Robert, parents, Robert and Irene Boak, Sister, Diane, Brother, Robert “Butch”, in-laws, Dr. T.D. and Margaret Elbe, Sister-in-law, Kay. Mass of Christian Burial Friday August 23, 2019, 5:30 PM at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church North 1375 Covered Bridge Rd. Cedarburg. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 2:30 – 5:15 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials to Life of Hope Project, West Bend or Elevate Inc. Jackson, appreciated. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the St. Germain EMT’s who responded and especially to Jackson’s Lakeside Cottages for all they have provided the family throughout the years. Here’s to hoping the tradition continues!
