Janis Peterson

Janis Peterson (nee Hargrave) of Cedarburg, passed away at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the age of 72 after a ten-month battle following complications from transplant surgery. Janis was born September 23, 1945 in Herrin, IL, the daughter of the late Donald and Helen (nee McCuan) Hargrave. On June 10, 1967, Janis was united in marriage to Roger D. Peterson. Janis prized her role as a stay-at-home mother to her four children above all else. Nothing was more important to her than family and she adored spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was also a former member of the Cedarburg Jr. Women’s Club and performed in many theater productions. She was a fervent believer in volunteering in the Cedarburg School System and other community programs. She loved reading, playing bridge, and sharing a cup of coffee and a good laugh with her friends. She had a brave heart, a kind soul and was a friend to all. Janis leaves behind her husband Roger, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage. She is survived by four children: Matt (Jodie), John (Melanie), Sarah (Zack) Clayton and David; and eight grandchildren: Samuel, Lucas, Drew, Owen, Alena, Tesfanesh, William and Katherine. She also leaves behind her brother, James (Paula) Hargrave; sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws: Karn Rosenberg, James (Gail) Peterson, Joan (Donald) Brownlee and Charles (Corinne) Peterson. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends. A memorial service will be held at Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg on Saturday, November 4, 2017 – 1:00 PM. Rev. John Norquist will be officiating. Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 12:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the National Kidney Foundation or charity of your choice appreciated.
