James W. Tiernan, of Cedarburg, passed away at the Aurora Medical Center, in Grafton, on September 18, 2018, at the age of 81 years. James was born on November 18, 1936, in Denver, Colorado, the son of the late James H. Tiernan and the late Ione (nee Neal) Tiernan. He graduated from East High School in Denver, with the class of 1954. Prior to his graduation from high school, James met the love of his life, Mary Turner while buying eggs from the Turner family. They were united in marriage on September 29, 1962, at St. John’s Catholic Church, in Loveland, Colorado. Together their marriage was blessed with two children, Joseph and Elizabeth. James attended Colorado State University, in Fort Collins, Colorado, and went on to work for Continental Airlines as an airplane mechanic, which led him to a long career with Continental Can Company. After many moves with his family, James was finally relocated to Cedarburg, Wisconsin, where he worked as a supervisor until his retirement in 1988. Upon his retirement, James then went on to work for M.W. Kasch Company, in Mequon, as well as Second Harvester, in Milwaukee, and finally served his community driving for the Senior Center, in Cedarburg. James was very interested in his family genealogy and took on the task of finding his family roots. He spent countless hours researching the history of the Tiernan family. Although he was a very active man, his true love was spending time with his beloved wife, Mary. James is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Mary Tiernan, children, Joseph (Carol) Tiernan and Elizabeth (Daniel) Klein, and brother, John (Donna) Tiernan. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Celebration of James Life will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, 4 PM at the Mueller Funeral Home & Crematory, in Cedarburg with Chaplain Steve Harris presiding. A visitation will take place prior to the service from 2 PM until 4PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the charity of your choice.
