James M La Pointe

James M. La Pointe Of Appleton, Formerly of Grafton, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2014 at the age of 77. James La Pointe was an Attorney. But, he was much more to those who were close to him. He was born a Yooper in Amasa, MI to Joseph & Mabel La Pointe (Carlson). He grew up with 3 brothers; J.P., Jon, and Jeff La Pointe and resided in the Northern suburbs of the greater Milwaukee area. After Graduating from Marquette University and serving as DA for Ozaukee County for many years he married the Love of his life, Susan La Pointe (Kammerer) and became a proud Father of Tiffany La Pointe. Later in his career he served as Children’s County Court Commissioner where he would retire and travel to many warm places during cold Wisconsin Winters. In 2006, Jim moved to Appleton and lived on Little Lake Butte Des Morte. He made many good friends in the area and became a Grandfather to Arabella Bursek in 2009. Jim will be missed for his intelligence, quick wit, sense of humor, and boasting. Jim lived a great life. Throughout his journey in life and the people he met (National Guard, UW- Milwaukee, Marquette, Kiwanis, Public Office, and Traveling) he will be remembered well and missed. He joins his belated wife Susan, Parents, and Brother J.P. and many extended friends, family members and beloved pets at this time in his journey. James is survived by his daughter Tiffany (Fiance Jason Suttner) La Pointe; grandchildren: Arabella, Mia and Lily; brothers: Jon (Dorothy) La Pointe and Jeff (Diane) La Pointe; other relatives and many friends. James was preceded in death by his wife Susan and his brother Joseph Peter “JP” La Pointe. Funeral services will be held at Mueller Funeral Home & Crematory – Cedarburg on Monday, January 5, 2015 – 4:00 PM. Visitation will be on Monday from 2:00 PM – 3:45 PM. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Grafton. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society appreciated.
