James Ebert, entered eternal glory Thursday, August 13, 2015 in the Lawlis Family Hospice at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee Campus at the age of 84. Jim was born on May 22, 1931 in Milwaukee, WI. He was the older of two sons born to Herman and Leone (Nee Block) Ebert. He graduated in 1953 from UW Madison’s School of Pharmacy. He served in the US Army at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. For forty years he worked as a pharmacist at Fitzgerald Pharmacy in Whitefish Bay, supported by his loving wife. He became co-owner and co-manager with his friend Don Wendorff. A life-long Christian, he served in various congregations of the WELS (Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod). He was a fervent supporter of its educational and gospel mission efforts; he served on its Southeast Wisconsin District Mission board and for years was on the national board of WELS Kingdom Workers. He enjoyed the beauty and quiet of the outdoors with his wife and best friend, Carol, and spent much of his free time at a second home on a north woods lake. In retirement they enjoyed traveling and wintering for many years in Florida. Jim was married to Carol (nee Parlow) for sixty years and was the father of five children: Gwen Ebert of Madison; Beth (Gary) Evans of Mequon; Kurt (Connie) Ebert of Thiensville; Ruth (Will) Coats of Newberry, SC; and Claire (Tom) Hawtrey of Union, KY. He took special joy in his 20 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He will be missed especially by his wife, his children and their families, and his surviving cousins. He was preceded in glory by his brother, Dick, one grandson and one granddaughter. Jim’s family is deeply grateful for the wonderful care given by the nursing staff and volunteers at the Lawlis Family Hospice, as well as the ICU Staff at Columbia St. Mary’s Ozaukee Campus. A worship service celebrating God’s grace to Jim will take place Monday, August 17, 2015 – 11:00 AM at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Grafton, WI. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 AM – 10:45 AM. His body will be laid to rest at Immanuel Cemetery in Cedarburg. Memorials may be directed to Our Savior Lutheran Church or to WELS Kingdom Workers.
