Interment will take place on October 23, 2017 at Little Sister Cemetery in Sister Bay, WI (Door County) at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to the Moravian Church of Sister Bay, WI. For online condolences please go to: www.muellerfuneralhome.com. Jack was born in Sturgeon Bay, WI to Tom and Louise Charney (nee Markert) on July 24, 1936. It was during his early years growing up in Door County that he developed his love for the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, a hunter, and enjoyed gardening. Jack met the love of his life, Jacqueline, in school there and married her in 1957. Jack served his country (1955-1957) as an Army radar systems specialist in the Washington D.C. area. After he completed his service, Jack and Jackie moved to Milwaukee where his son, Paul was born. He worked as an electrical assembler with Jordan Controls for over 40 years and retired in 2001. When they learned their granddaughter was on the way, they moved to Grafton and enjoyed activities and spending time with her as often as they could. Family and friends will cherish memories of his calming presence, wise advice, silent strength, and wonderful wit and sense of humor. Jack is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Jacqueline Charney (nee Grasse), his son Paul (Michele) Charney, his beloved granddaughter Amanda, and his sister-in-law Gloria (Tom) Bodenhagen. Further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank his kind and compassionate physician, Dr. Daniel Duffy, for his care over the last few years. They are also grateful for the gentle and vigilant care he received from the ICU staff at St. Mary’s Ozaukee Hospital, and the welcome and comfort that was given to him at Anita’s Gardens assisted living facility in Grafton over the past three years.
