Isabelle Ruth Blessent

Isabelle Ruth Blessent (nee Boetta) Born to life on August 5, 1917. Born to Eternal Life on April 25, 2009 in Milwaukee, WI. Isabelle was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Boetta, brother Lester (Frances), and loving husband, Bernard "Barney" Blessent of 54 years. Isabelle grew up as a coal miners daughter in Gillespie, IL and graduated third in her Gillespie High School Class of 1935 and then married her high school sweetheart on June 10, 1937. Business and entrepreneurial endeavors with Barney took her to Chicago in 1942. Their only child and surviving daughter, Mary Lou (Harris) was born that autumn. Prior to their retirements in 1978, Isabelle and Barney owned Blessent Tool Supply, a commercial tool supply company that is still in business today under BITS (Blessent International Tool Supply) in the Greater Chicago area. After a lifetime of hard work, Isabelle and Barney were able to enjoy a happy retirement in Princeton, IL and then in historical Ottawa, IL. Six years after Barneys passing in 1992, Isabelle made the journey northward to Hartford, WI. The move enabledher to be closer to her family, whose company she cherished. Family members include Mary Lou, grandsons Geoffrey Bishop Harris and Michael Bernard Harris (Maria), granddaughter Polly Elizabeth Raymond (John). Isabelle loved John and Maria as much as if they were her own grandchildren. In 2002, Isabelle welcomed the bright, cheerful addition of great-granddaughter, Sydney Elizabeth Raymond into the world, and then the birth of her second great-granddaughter, Angelina Margaret Harris in 2007 brought her additional joy. The move to Wisconsin also produced an unexpectedresult in that she soon became a fan of the Green Bay Packers and Brett Favre. Since the summer of 2005, Isabelle had been a resident at Newcastle Place in Mequon, WI. Within the family, Isabelle will always be remembered for her famous homemade vegetable soup and the magic she created with a sewing machine. She nourished her family in many ways, and there was always pot of soup brewing to ward off any rainy days within her family circle. The family is especially grateful to the staff at Newcastle Place and The Highlands for their kind treatment and hospitality to Isabelle for the past 4 years. Juliana and Tena were amazing in filling her days with love, happy projects, and pretty fingernails. A special thanks also goes to the caring staff at Froedert Hospital in both the Intensive Care Surgical Unit and the Palliative Care Unit. They were invaluable in making Isabelles final days as comfortable as possible for both her and her family.
