Irene E. Eggert (nee Fischer) of Cedarburg passed away peacefully on Saturday March1, 2014 at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg at the age of 97 years. Irene was born in Mequon, WI on March 20, 1916 to the late Albert & Ella (nee Last) Fischer and married the late Roy Eggert on June 28, 1940 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. Irene was one of the first employee’s to work at Alston’s Store in Cedarburg were she worked for over 35 years. She was a member of the JOY Country Line dancing group and volunteered at the Ozaukee Co. Humane Society. She was also a long time active member at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Irene is survived by her daughters; Elaine (the late Rev. Jack) Horner of Muskegon, MI & Sandra (Glen) Rau of West Bend, grandchildren; Mark (fiancée Casey) Horner of Muskegon, MI, Ann Hanson of Cedarburg, Kristin (David) Lewis of Palmer, AK, & step-grandson Scott Rau of West Bend. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers & 5 sisters. She is further survived by 12 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 6, 1:30 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church W61 N498 Washington Ave Cedarburg. Interment Zur Ruhe Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday at the church from 11:30 AM until 1:15 PM. Memorials of your choice appreciated.
