Henry R. “Hank” Herrian Henry Richard Herrian was taken home by his heavenly Father on January 15, 2018, at the age of 82. He passed away peacefully under the wonderful loving care of the staff at The Kathy Hospice in West Bend, WI, with family at his side. Hank was born in New Ulm, MN on January 12, 1936 to the late Henry and Marguerite Herrian and was baptized and later confirmed in the Christian faith at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Ulm. He was a graduate of Dr. Martin Luther High School and the University of Minnesota, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Hank married Jean Frank on July 18, 1959 at David’s Star Lutheran Church in Jackson, WI. Hank answered the call to serve his beloved country by enlisting in the US Marine Corps Reserve, where he served for six years and was honorably discharged at the rank of lance corporal. He worked his entire professional life in the insurance business, most recently as an independent agent and a Certified Insurance Counselor. Through his business, Hank touched the lives of hundreds of people. Over the years, he enjoyed being involved in the ministry of David’s Star Lutheran Church, where he served in various ministries and as church council president, and at Morning Star Lutheran Church, where he sang in the bass section of the choir, was head usher, and assisted with communion. Hank enjoyed reading, politics, golfing, sitting by the pool with friends and family, and “jogging.” Many fondly remember seeing him sauntering up and down Division Road near his house in his “Slow Moving Vehicle” sweatshirt, or circling the track at Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School. He will be remembered for his kindness, hospitality, and his ability to connect with everyone he met. According to Hank, there was no such thing as a stranger! Hank is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jean; his children Mark Herrian, Paul (Colleen) Herrian, and Ann (Thad) Jahns; his step-grandchildren Adam (Alina) Laughlin and Jessica (Nate) Neal; his grandchildren Ethan, Micah, and Jonah Jahns; and six step-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by loving sisters Pat Fenske, Elizabeth Campbell, and Linda (Dennis) Holle. Hank will also be remembered and missed by loving nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Kathy and brothers-in-law Phil Fenske and Gary Campbell. Visitation will take place at Morning Star Lutheran Church in Jackson on Saturday, January 20, from 9:00-10:45 am, with a funeral service at 11:00 am followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Morning Star Lutheran Church, Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School, and Wisconsin Lutheran College. The family would like to especially thank the caring staff at Ivy Manor in Jackson, for all of their wonderful care and compassion.
