Harry E. Rollings Iii

Rollings, Harry Earl III, died peacefully on September 4, 2016, at age 72 after a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his loving wife Kay, devoted children Joel (Lauri), Jennifer (Nate Kresse), and grandchildren Etta, Oscar, and Sam. An accomplished psychologist, Harry earned his B.A. from Wartburg College (Waverly, Iowa), his M.S. from the University of Nebraska (Omaha), and his Ph.D. from Tulane University (New Orleans). Born in Colorado Springs, Harry was a lifelong lover of rodeo and the outdoors. He began his career teaching English Literature at Lakefield High School in Hayfield, Minnesota, where he met the love of his life, Kay Louise Jorde. After they married, Harry continued pursuing his education in psychology, eventually earning a doctorate in record time from Tulane University. Harry shared his knowledge of industrial and organizational psychology with businesses around the country as a Senior Consultant with Rohrer, Hibler and Boston Consulting Group. He later returned to educating students, teaching industrial and organizational psychology and human factors engineering at Marquette University and then Milwaukee School of Engineering. An avid fisherman, Harry spent many happy hours with friends aboard boats in the United States and Canada. He enjoyed cooking and sharing the fruits of his labor with friends and family. Harry was also a connoisseur of fine wine, cheese, and cigars. He and Kay spent many happy hours traveling around Wisconsin visiting artisan cheesemakers. They also enjoyed spending time at their cottages, first in Wautoma, then in Pine River. A tireless community servant, Harry served as president of his local lake association in Wautoma and president of the board for the U.S.S. Liberty Memorial Public Library in Grafton. Harry will be deeply missed by all who were touched by his intelligence, charm, and sparkling wit. Family will receive friends at Mueller Funeral Home in Grafton on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016 from 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harry’s name may be made to the U.S.S.
