Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 6:00 PM at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, 10729 W. Freistadt Rd., Mequon for Harold A. Pipkorn of Mequon died peacefully Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the age of 89 years. Private interment at church cemetery. Visitation at the church on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 5:45 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church appreciated. Harold was born at home, on January 12, 1927, the only child to the late Louis Pipkorn and the late Hertha (nee Krueger). He graduated from Cedarburg High School class of 1945, where he met his future wife of over 65 years the late Betty (nee Uhlig). Together they had four children. He was a Dairy Farmer on the Pipkorn Family Homestead for all of his life. Harold was a lifelong student of nature, and a conservationist before his time. He loved birds, trees, flowers, grass and all animals. He was an accomplished sausage maker, mechanic, carpenter, welder, gardener and coin collector. Harold was an avid musician, and a founding member of the Freistadt Alte Kameraden Band. He played the baritone horn for most of his life. Together with the Alte Kameraden Band, he and his wife traveled the United States and Europe for many musical performances and folk festivals over these 50 plus years, having many happy adventures with their fellow band members and new found friends, as well as participating with the Alte Kameraden in hosting many German folk bands and dance groups keeping traditional German and Pomeranian dance and music alive for future generations. Harold was a generous humble good will ambassador who loved to tell stories, play practical jokes, have a good time, and make people feel at ease. Harold seemed to never have met a person he didn’t like. He was loved and will be missed by his family and friends, but Harold will always be remembered with a smile. Harold is survived by his children; Wendy (Dennis) Bruss, SueAnn (Mark) Winner and John (JoAnn) Pipkorn, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, loving extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty, and daughter, Heidi. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you for the passionate care given to Harold by everyone at the Silver Spring Group Home, and Penny.
