Glenn F. Dohrmann

Glenn F. Dohrmann, passed away peacefully at home in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, on April 11, 2025, at the age of 98 surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Glenn was born in Portsmouth, Iowa on July 18, 1926 the son of the late August and Johanna (nee Noehren) Dohrmann.

For a remarkable 36 years, Glenn forged a successful career in insurance and investment sales, earning respect and admiration for his integrity and dedication. His education included graduation from Shelby High School in Iowa, where he served as a class officer throughout his high school years, and further studies at Monterey Peninsula College. An inspiration to many, Glenn often cited 5 Star General Douglas MacArthur as a role model, embodying the principles of honorable service and leadership.

A proud veteran, Glenn enlisted in the United States Army on January 17, 1946, where he quickly demonstrated his commitment to service. He achieved the rank of commissioned officer on October 30, 1946, and during his time at Ft. Benning, Georgia, he set a record in the Battle Conditioning course. Glenn served for two years in Korea as part of the Army of Occupation from January 1947 to January 1949, followed by eight months on the front line and commanding troops during the significant taking of Old Baldy, an effort that earned him the Silver Star along with three Purple Hearts and a nomination for the Congressional Medal of Honor .

Glenn was not only a military hero but also a man devoted to his faith and community. He served as a Commander of the Grafton VFW and took great pride in being an Elder and member of the male choir at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton, Wisconsin. His personality was marked by his faithfulness, honor, and an inspiring spirit that touched countless lives. He lived by the phrase: "Christian by the Grace of God & Because the Lamb was worthy - I am not."

Outside of his professional and military accomplishments, Glenn had a multitude of interests that included a deep appreciation for history, participating in 4th of July parades, bird watching, writing, golf, walking, and playing chess. He especially treasured moments spent with his family, recalling sweet memories of dancing at weddings, going on road trips filled with trivia, and sunny afternoon fry outs with family and friends.

Glenn is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth J. (Nee Vincent) Dohrmann; his daughters, Lori (Wayne) Sedlak, Linda (Eugene Kubit) Vatovetz, Sandra (Patrick) Moore, and Amy (Epameinondas) Pelekanakis. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his 11 grandchildren: Aaron (Jolene) Last, Elizabeth Jaffke, Kristin (Brian) Baker, Susan (William) Opitz, Alex Last, Brandon (KC) Moore, Johanna (Kyle) Czarnecki, Kevin (Jourdan) Moore, Aliese (Jack) Slater, Christos and Maria; 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth C. (Nee Roessler), after 17 and a half years of marriage, as well as one brother and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025- 4:00 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church 701 Washington Street Grafton with full Military Honors to follow. Rev. Luke Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 2:00 PM - 3:45 PM. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery in Kohler, WI. In lieu of flowers, Memorials to Peter Wollner Post 288 Cedarburg, Honor Flight or St. Paul Lutheran Church are appreciated.

As we remember Glenn F. Dohrmann, we honor a life well-lived, one filled with unwavering courage, profound love for his family, and an enduring commitment to his community and country. His spirit will surely live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
