Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 12 (noon) at Immanuel Lutheran Church, N61 W498 Washington Avenue, Cedarburg for Gilbert Benicke who died Saturday November 21, 2009 at the age of 96 years at Lasata Care Center. Visitation will be held on Saturday at church from 10:00am until the time of Service. Interment will follow at Immanuel Cemetery. Gilbert was born in Cedarburg, WI on May 15, 1913, son of the late Carl and Emma (nee Wolfgram) Benicke. Gilbert was united in marriage to Elfrieda (nee Hartwig) on November 27, 1937 in Newburg, WI. They were blessed with 4 children. Gilbert was a dairy farmer for 40 years in the town of Cedarburg and also raised pure breed ayrshire cattle for a long time. He loved woodworking, was an avid sheepshead player both with family and friends and in his early years loved working his horses. He loved music, especially the Polkas, played his Concertina and danced almost every weekend. Gilbert was a 4-H leader and enjoyed working with the children and he drove school bus for the Cedarburg area for 13 years. Gilbert thoroughly loved all his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Gilbert is survived by his beloved wife Elfrieda of 72 years, children; Werner (Carrol), Allen (Claudia), Karen (James) Moder and Daniel (Mary Lou) Benicke, grandchildren; Dwayne (friend, Lynn) Benicke, Loree (Kris) Kazda, Amber (Frank) Field, Todd (Patricia) Benicke, Jay (friend, Tammy) Benicke, Lisa (Brad) Seefeldt, Jason (Shannon) Benicke,James Jr. (Jody) Moder, Kristie (John) Parker, Robert (Robin) Benicke and Danielle (friend, Jessie) Benicke, 25 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, brothers-in-law Paul Haffeman and Albert (Agnes) Hartwig, sisters-in-law; Dorothy (Leland) Schulz, Alita Berling and Mildred Ulik, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents, great grandson Kalvin, great granddaughter Kara and siblings; Melita Benicke, Palmer Benicke, Olive Stauske, Norman, Paul, Elmer and Eleanora Haffeman.
