Gerald H. “Jerry” Kornetzke Gerald H. “Jerry” Kornetzke, of Grafton, passed away at Ellen’s Home, in Port Washington, on March 24, 2015, at the age of 81 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2015, 12 Noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church (1619 Washington St.), in Grafton. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The visitation will take place on Saturday, at the church, from 9AM until 11:45AM, followed by the Funeral Mass, with Father Pat Wendt presiding. Memorials in Jerry’s name can be made to the charity of your choice. Jerry was born on the family farm, in Plymouth, Wisconsin, on May 2, 1933, the son of the late Albin Kornetzke Sr. and the late Gertrude (nee Kapellen) Kornetzke. He served his country in the United States Coast Guard from 1952, until 1956, when he was honorably discharged. Jerry was united in marriage to Darlene Smasal on June 11, 1960, in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Jeff, Peggy, and Donna. Jerry was employed by A.O. Smith for some time and then went on to work as an electrician as well as a foreman for the Milwaukee Journal. Jerry retired from the Milwaukee Journal, in 1994, after 35 years of dedication. He was a longtime active member at St. Joseph Catholic Church for over 40 years, and served as an usher on a weekly basis. After his retirement, Jerry was involved in working at the Grafton voter’s polls as well as joining the Sociable Singles Club at St. Joseph Catholic Church, following the death of his beloved wife, Darlene. Jerry was a man of many talents, but he will forever be remembered as “Mr. Fix-it”. Jerry could be found fixing cars, antique to new, microwave ovens, tractors, appliances, weed wackers, etc. He would help anyone fix anything. If something couldn't be fixed it would be saved for parts. He had fixed many things for his church also. Jerry is survived by his children, Jeff (fiancée Sheila Dana) Kornetzke, Peggy Glander, and Donna (Mike) Kroening; grandchildren, Lisa, Kyle, Emily, and Abby Kornetzke, Elysha (John) Fortino, Amanda and Ryan Glander, and Jakob, Patrick, and Candice Kroening; great-grandchildren, Joey, Madalyn, Anthony, Haley, and Sarah; and siblings, Dolores Knier, Nancy (Ken) Stein, and Robert (Peggy) Kornetzke. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Darlene Kornetzke, and siblings, Albin Jr., Daniel, and Ray Kornetzke. Dad has many unfinished projects in his basement, if you would be so kind, please pick up your unclaimed items. “Just kidding!”
