George R. Ploof,
Of Hartford, peacefully passed away on November 15, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 75. He was born on April 18, 1949, to his late parents, George D. Ploof and Dolores (nee Umbs), in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was united in marriage to Sheila (nee Tice) on July 26, 1969, at St. Fredrick’s Catholic Church in Cudahy. Together, their marriage was blessed with two children, George “Doug” and Mindy.
George graduated from Grafton High School in 1967 and soon pursued his career at A.O. Smith, where he worked for 28 years. He was devoted catholic and a 4th degree knight with the catholic fraternal organization, Knights of Columbus. Through the Knights of Columbus and his faith, he found passion with helping the ultrasound initiative for prolife for the women’s support groups. George had many hobbies including playing sheepshead, golfing, fishing, hunting, watching tv, and feeding his birds, but George’s one true joy was spending time and talking with his loved ones. George was the most inviting and kind man his family and friends have known; he would speak with everyone he encountered and would always lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
George is survived by his beloved wife, Sheila (nee Tice); his two children, Doug and Mindy (Tony) VanTreeck; four grandchildren, Joshua (Ashley), Brittany (David), Elizabeth, and Jillian Georgia; and three great-grandchildren, Ari, Lukas George, and Cole. He is further survived by his siblings, Patricia and Jack, along with many friends and family members.
George is preceded in death by his parents, George and Dolores.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church with a Rosary prior (415 Roosevelt Drive, West Bend, WI 53090). A reception will immediately follow the service. George will be buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grafton, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials of your choice are appreciated.
