George F. Kohlwey

George F. Kohlwey of Saukville passed away peacefully on Monday January 28, 2008 at Cedar Community in West Bend at the age of 87 years. George was born in Cedarburg, WI on October 29, 1920 to the late George H. and Anna (nee Behrens) Kohlwey and married Shirley (nee Kegler) on April 19, 1947 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. George served in the US Army from 1942 1947 and received a Purple Heart. He also was a long time active member at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton serving as chairman of St. Paul for 5 years, elder for 6 years, was president of the Fellowship Club for many years, served on the board for youth ministry, and visited members through the Evangelism program. He also was President of AAL Branch 229 for 28 years. George also was a member of Saukville Legion Post 470, Disabled American Vets, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Farm Bureau. George farmed most of his life and worked as a welder at Grob in Grafton. He is survived by his wife Shirley of Saukville, children; Judy (Wayne) Wolff of Grafton, Daniel (Carol) of Grafton, Doug (Betty) of Adell, Debra (Leon) Herther of West Bend, & Cynthia (Robert) Roden of West Bend, 1 brother; Ruben (Evelyn), 3 sisters; Anita Eulert, Florence (Gerald) Rathke & Renata (Kenneth) Rappold, & 1 sister-in-law Lillian Kohlwey. He is further survived by 18 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers; Walter and Benoit, sisters; Georgiana Rettmann, Esther Koeller, and Eleonora Dobberfuhl. Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 2, 2008 2 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church 701 Washington St. Grafton. Interment church cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 11 AM until time of service. Memorials to the church appreciated. The family would like you to remember George for his Christianity, friendliness, and great sense of humor. They also would like to thank Dr. Maul, Dr. Krco, Dr. Gauthier, Dr. OReilly, Dr. Mian, and Cedar Community for all of their loving hands.
