Geneva Hughes of Cedarburg passed away peacefully on Sunday April 5, 2009 at Lasata Care Center. Geneva was born on July 30, 1916 to the late Gustav & Caroline (nee Edson) Falk and married the late Chester J. Hughes on April 25, 1942 in Madison, WI. Geneva graduated with a degree in music from Lawrence University in Appleton. She taught in Dodgeville, WI, Richland Center, WI, Madison, WI and 22 years in the Eau Claire public school system. She was a member of the American Guild of Organists-Sigma Alpha Iota Music Sorority, and Eau Claire Civic Music Association. She was the organist at First Lutheran Church in Barron, WI, and other various churches in the Eau Claire area. Before she moved to Cedarburg she worked as a secretary for the Fuller Funeral Home in Eau Claire. She was a resident at Lasata Care Center for 12 years were she played the piano & organ at Lasatas Chapel. She is survived by her daughter Ann Turney of Grafton and granddaughter Jane Turney of Port Washington. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. Funeral serviceswill be held on Wed. April 8, 4 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Grafton. Visitationwill be held at the church Wed. from 2 PM until time of service. Burial will take place at Wayside Cemetery in Barron, WI. Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church Organ Fund, Eau Claire, First Lutheran Church Organ Fund Barron, WI or Grace Lutheran Church Organ Fund in Grafton.
