Freda Bertha Violet Zimple Langdon Mosier Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 13th at First Congregational Church, 1202 Park Street in Boscobel, Wisconsin at 3:00pm with inurnment to follow at Boscobel Cemetery for Freda Z. Mosier who died Wednesday, April 10th at Newcastle Place in Mequon, Wisconsin from natural causes at the age of 95 years. Freda, Fritz, Grandma, Great Grandma, Auntie, but Linda, her daughter, is the only one who calls her Mom. Born in Crawford County on October 20, 1917, to William and Grace Zimple, Freda shared some great adventures with her 10 brothers and sisters. Climbing the hill and looking for berries, ginseng hunting with her dad was tough on her short legs and he would drop one of his overhaul straps and help pull her up the hill. When it came time for high school, she was able to move to town so she could complete high school. She fell in love with the quarterback, Robert Bird Langdon. They married and Bob enlisted in the Air Force. They set off on a life of adventure serving the country. Their first child, Sandra, was born in Madison but did not survive. With the Air Force their lives were spent in many western states, especially California, Washington and Colorado. Linda was born in Los Angeles, California. A son, Robert was born a few years later, but did not survive. As typical with an Air Force wife, Freda was kept busy keeping things in order at home and at work. She was a woman ahead of her times. She worked at California Federal Savings and Loan and other jobs. Never forgetting her love of family and her roots in Wisconsin, every year she would put Linda in the car, pack it up and drive across the country to see her family. This was not the easiest or safest thing for a woman and single child to do, but they crossed that prairie at least thirty-six times together. She was a brave woman not to be denied. Robert Langdon died in 1965. In 1975, she married Robert Mosier. Robert Mosier and Robert Langdon had been cadets in the Army Air Corps together. Together Bob and mom shared a good life in Montrose, Colorado. She enjoyed working side-by-side with him in business. They enjoyed sharing the mountains, fishing, and great friendships. Linda’s family enjoyed spending summers with them in the mountains and fishing. Upon retirement, Freda and Bob moved to Sun City, Arizona where they enjoyed the “good life”. Robert passed away in September 2012. In January, Freda moved back to Wisconsin, living at New Castle Place in Mequon, WI, a short eight miles from Linda. She enjoyed visits from her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. There was a great twinkle in her eyes and a wonderful smile on her face. Freda faced, challenged and enjoyed the full circle of life, especially making sure that Linda behaved herself, got a good education, learned the gracious behavior of a lady, including playing the piano and was thrilled when Ken Von Rueden, a true class act, joined the family. Linda will continue to carry on those goals and that spirit with her children and grandchildren. Loving mother of Linda Lee(the late Kenneth) Langdon Von Rueden. Proud grandmother of Kent (Sheryl) Von Rueden, ElizaBeth (Jim) Clayton and Kyle (Jennifer) Von Rueden . Great-grandmother of Brett Von Rueden, Nathan Von Rueden, Samantha Von Rueden, Reis Von Rueden, Grace Evans and Luke Evans, Also survived by step-children; Rebecca (Linda Rose) Mosier, James (Nancy) Mosier and Nancy (Peter) Ricketts, and step-grandchildren; Stephanie (Paul) DeWitt Evans, Stacy DeWitt, Michael (Allison) Mosier, Carrie Mosier, and the late Josh Mosier. other relatives and friends.
