Franklin John Friede, 85, of Port Washington (formerly Cedarburg) passed away with family by his side at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon on Monday August 7. Frank was born in Mequon on June 7, 1932, son of Reinhold & Lydia (Lemke)Friede. He graduated from Cedarburg High School where he enjoyed playing football as a Bulldog, he followed the team and went to the games up until a few years ago. The best part of high school was meeting and marrying his high school sweetheart Adell Verhaalen on October 17, 1953. Frank was an expert automobile mechanic his whole life fulfilling his dream of running his own business “Friede’s Service”. Many residence will remember Frank not only as an auto mechanic that fixed their cars, but the entrepenuer that rented and sold camping trailers, sold truck caps, and he put together many pieces of wooden yard furniture that were sold and delivered. There was always U-Haul trucks and trailers available for people to move all over the local cities and throughout the 50 states. Toward the end of his career he built trailers, which we still see being used as we see his Friede’s Service sticker on them. Frank was involved with Town & Country 4-H and the First Immanuel Luther Church Men's Club for many years. Frank is survived by four daughters and one son - Diane (Randy) Yokes of Port Washington, Susan (Robert) Burmeister of Cedarburg, Cheryl (Scot) Hooper of Neunan Georgia, Ellen (Raymond) Swanson of Grafton, Mark (Pamela) Friede of River Falls, WI. He is further survived by 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, brother; Elroy (Ruth) Friede of Juneau, WI, brother-in-law ; Lloyd (Mary) Verhaalen, sister-in-law Mabel Verhaalen, other relatives and friends. Frank is preceded in death by wife Adell, whom he was able to enjoy 40 years with, parents Reinhold & Lydia Friede, Sister Doris (Harvey) Fick, father & mother-in-law Edward and Mabel Verhaalen, brother-in-law Darwin Verhaalen as well as other relatives and friend. Funeral service will be held on Saturday August 12, 11 AM at First Immanuel Lutheran Church W67 N622 Evergreen Blvd. Cedarburg. Interment Zur Ruhe Cemetery Cedarburg. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9 – 10:45 AM. In lieu of flowers memorials of your choice appreciated.
