FRANCIS RAYMOND BOURBONAIS 11/4/1923 – 6/17/2024
Fran was born to eternal life on June 17, 2024, at the age of 100.
Born in Houghton, Michigan on November 4, 1923, their family moved soon afterwards to Wauwatosa, WI where he spent his childhood. After graduating high school in 1941, he then worked at various jobs until being drafted into the US Army. Based in Greenland, he proudly served as staff sergeant in World War II from 1943-1946. He met and married the love of his life, Charlotte in 1951. They were blessed with 3 children. He then worked as a Route Supervisor at American Linen for the rest of his career until he retired. Even into his 80’s, he worked as crossing guard every day at St. Francis Borgia School in Cedarburg, Wisconsin.
Fran’s favorite pastimes were bowling, golfing, fishing, playing cards and cribbage. His favorite place was Twin Lakes, Michigan where he loved spending time with family and friends every year. Put a fishing pole in his hand and he was happy! Fran had a unique sense of humor. He was affectionately called “Archie” or “Frantic Franny”. He was an avid Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewers fan!!
Fran is survived by his children, Steve (Shar), Cheri, and Judy (Bob). Loving grandpa to his grandchildren, Rick (Therese), Jenny (Tom), Andy, Mike, Brittany and Kristina. Further survived by great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Fran was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte (nee Harnack) Bourbonais, his brothers, sisters, daughter-in-law Stela and son-in-law Donnie.
A special thank you to Andy Bourbonais for taking such great care of his grandpa for so many years. There was such a special bond between them.
A celebration of life will be held later in the summer in Upper Michigan.
