Evan Joseph Gabel

Left to fish forever in Heaven on September 12, 2023 at the age of 27 years.

Evan was born into this beautiful world on August 2, 1996.

This beautiful boy was special. He had a sense of adventure that was contagious. He would light up the room when he was there. The laughter and love that he gave to others was such a gift. He was a simple man.

Evan loved the wilderness and found his peace and solitude on the riverbank; it was where he found himself. A catch and release fisherman. The trout loved him, they would give him the glory of the catch, knowing that he would gently release them back into the stream. Thank you, Gordy, for being a guide. Thank you, Anders, for being a such a special man, great friend, who both enjoyed the art of fly fishing. Thank you, Nikko, for teaching Evan how to climb, it was a new found passion of his.

Evan was an accomplished hockey player, one of the best for the Cedarburg Bulldogs, because he was a team player. Thank you, Dale, for the lessons you taught your player. He wanted the other guy to have to glory of the goal. He wasn’t a fighter on the ice, he just wanted to skate, and that he did. Low and fast. When Evan had the puck, things were going to happen.

Lacrosse became a new sport that he loved in the Spring. He quickly learned how to win the face off and scoop up the ball and share it with others. Moving it downfield. Thank you, Kevin, for putting together a program that served those kids well. Thank you, Ryan, for the stick and gear that got him started. Thank you, Zane, for accepting the gift of his stick.

Evan loved wrestling, and that became a new form of expression on the mat. He concentrated and won many matches. Thank you, Jason, for being a guiding light for him.

He was an avid rollerblader, which all started at Skateland. Thank you, Chuck, for giving Evan an outlet. It became his form of transportation to get into his own space.

Evan was very intrigued with Physics and Chemistry. His retention of information was incredible.

The slopes and powder days brought Evan a whole new joy. Thank you, Grandpa Phil, for teaching us how to ski and passing that on, as we enjoyed so many family vacations together.

If there was a mountain to climb, Evan loved that too. Conquering many difficult peaks with Uncles, Sisters, and Cousins. Thank you to my brothers for taking him to places that brought him joy.

Many holidays were spent at the Osthoff. Celebrating family and enjoying Evan and his charismatic spirit. Thank you, Grandma Connie, and Grandpa Bill, for the gifts you gave us by gathering.

Evan loved his family and friends; he found his Higher Power and God was ready for him.

I’m grateful for the 27 years that I got to spend with this beautiful boy. A treasure in my heart. Peace be with you my beautiful boy.
