Ethel Lorretta Peterson (Behring) passed away Thursday, April 2, 2020. She was 99 years old. Ethel was born in Sheboygan Wisconsin on August 10, 1920. She graduated from Central High School in Sheboygan. Her primary occupation was homemaker. She was very active in many organizations in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod including Lutheran’s for Life, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and Lutheran Laymen’s League. She enjoyed auditing theology courses at Concordia University. Not only was she a student of theology, she also led bible studies and taught Sunday school and vacation bible school. She even took a trip to teach vacation bible school in Alaska. In her free time, she indulged in shopping. Ethel is preceded in death by her husband Roland Arthur Peterson and her daughter-in-law Diane Peterson. She is survived by their three children: Thomas Peterson, Gary Peterson (Sylvia), and Kristine Kovari (Tibor), along with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Over the course of her life, Ethel lived in many places including Cleveland Ohio, Lansing Michigan, Fox Point, Grafton and Mequon. Her one regret was that she did not attend college to get a degree and often spoke encouragingly to others to get an education. A memorial service will take place at a later date.
