Elmer Louis Viesselmann, of Grafton, WI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at the age of 96 years at Harbor Cove Assisted Living in Port Washington, Wisconsin. Elmer was born on April 27, 1921 in the Town of Grafton, WI the son of the late Elmer J. and Elsie Viesselmann (nee Kroening). On May 29, 1921, Elmer would be baptized at St. John Lutheran Church, in Lakefield (Town of Grafton), WI and later be confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Cedarburg, WI. On July 14, 1941, Elmer was united in marriage to Norma Hennings at St. John Lutheran Church in Lakefield. They would then be blessed with 4 children; Richard, Patricia, David and Peter. Elmer was raised on the family farm on Lakefield Road in the Town of Grafton. In his teen years, Elmer worked at the Lakefield Creamery and later was also hired by his father-in-law, William Hennings to work on the family farm on Port Washington Road in Grafton. Elmer & Norma later took over the dairy farm and continued to milk cows until 1984. They would also “cash crop” until 1988, when Elmer’s eldest son, Richard, rented the farm from them for cash cropping, as well. In 2008, Elmer and Norma moved into the Harbor Cove Assisted Living in Port Washington. Elmer was preceded in death by his wife Norma; brothers: Herbert and Louis; sisters: Laura (Robert) Kaul, Dorothy (Eugene) Hadler, and Ruth Mentzel. Elmer is survived by his children: Richard (Marie) Viesselmann of Wonewoc, Patricia (Ronald) Stifter of Saukville, David (Doreen) Viesselmann of Sheboygan and Peter (Kathie) of Cedar Grove; brother, Arthur (Marge) of Grafton and Brother-In-Law, Herbert Mentzel of Grafton. Elmer is further survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at St John Lutheran Church (1193 Lakefield Road in Grafton) on Friday, June 16, 2017 – 7:00 PM with Rev. James O'Reilly-Christensen officiating. Visitation will take place at the church on Friday from 5:00 – 6:45 PM. Interment will take place at Lakefield Cemetery. Memorials to St. John Lutheran Church are appreciated, as Elmer was a member there. Special thanks are offered by the family to the staff at the Harbor Club and Cove and Vitas Hospice for their compassionate care.
