Edgar A. Bruss, 100 Edgar peacefully passed away Monday, November 18, 2013. He was born May 18, 1913 in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, to Leonard and Lydia (Lauterbach) Bruss. His father was a local merchant. Edgar was a graduate of the Cedarburg High School class of 1931. In the midst of the Depression he had no choice but to enroll in Milwaukee State Teacher’s College (later it became known as UW-M). There he earned his degree in education. Later, he continued his education at Northwestern University, where he earned a master’s degree in education administration. When World War II broke out he enlisted in the Coast Guard where he served from 1942 to 1946. He was stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and at the New York Harbor. After the war he became a salesman for a textbook publisher. Edgar met his wife, Emily while presenting a new textbook at the Watertown High School English Department. They married in 1947. After retiring Edgar spent his time playing tennis or golf and cheering on his favorite teams. He is survived by his loving family, daughter Jeanne Kimball and Laurie (James) Nielsen, grandsons Scott (Vicki) Milsap and Mike (Holli) Milsap, great-grandsons Malachi, Alerik and Abel Milsap, nephew Terry (Linda) Kimball and many other friends. Our family is most grateful to the staff at Cedar Gardens for their “TLC” during Edgar’s many years there and for the extraordinary love and care he was given at Lasata the final months of his life. A memorial service will be held Monday, November 25, 2013 at 2:30 at Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg. The family welcomes friends and visitors from 1:00pm until the time of service.
