Online condolences can be sent by visiting www.muellerfuneralhome.com Dusty was born on May 25, 1947 in Milwaukee to the late Mylford Sr. and Jeannie nee Staley Hofstad. Dusty was 1965 graduate of Cedarburg High School. His participation in athletics at CHS fueled a lifelong love of sports, particularly football, basketball and baseball. Dusty worked in the overhead door business for over 35 years starting as a repairman and installer. This led to ownership of his own business for a number of years. Eventually, he settled into sales, sales training and sales management for a California contractor. Collectibles were always a favorite of Dusty. Baseball card collecting, Lionel trains, model cars particularly from the 60’s & early 70’s were just some of the hobbies Dusty enjoyed. He loved to scour the classified ads or stop at a rummage sale to fine that hidden gem/collectible. Dusty leaves behind former wife and lifelong friend Cheryl Zaupa nee Krause; his sons Shawn friend Holly Kupfer of Grafton and Seth of Germantown; brothers Ronald Patti and Kevin, sister Lynda Mike Goeman; grandchildren Sara, Laura, Sam Hofstad and Allison Kupfer; nieces Michelle, Yviette, Carrie, Monica, and Dawn; nephew Aaron; life long friends John and Shirley Kuerschner. Dusty is further survived by other relatives and friends. Dusty courageously fought a 2 ½ year battle with Leukemia. His faith, family and personal fortitude helped him fight that battle with courage and dignity. He was a source of strength and inspiration to all he touched during that time. Never questioning his illness instead concerned about the impact on family and friends. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic, Aurora Sinai Hospital and all the care providers throughout Dusty’s incredible journey. A big man with a big heart, we love you and will miss you big D.
