A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2008 - 12NOON at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church North (1375 Covered Bridge Road), Cedarburg, for Richard Runde, age 74, of Cedarburg, who passed away on November 27, 2008, at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital in Mequon after a brief illness. Visitation will be held at church from 10:00am until the time of Mass. Interment St. Francis Borgia Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Richard (Dick) was born the second son of four to Oscar and Elvira (Lolwing) of Cuba City, WI on February 16, 1934. He attended Loras Academy and Loras College in Dubuque, IA and Marquette University School of Dentistry where he earned his DDS degree in 1958. On September 6, 1958, Dick was united in marriage to Phyllis Van de Kamp of Milwaukee, WI at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Milwauklee and began both a family and dental practice in Cedarburg, WI. Both the dental practice and family grew with five children blessing their union as Dick practiced 50 years of Dentistry in Cedarburg. Dick was active in the State Dental Society, Toastmasters, the Boy Scouts, and as an instructor of Clinical Dentistry (part time) at Marquette for 30 years. Dick was also active in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary for 20 years attaining the rank of Commodore of the 9th Western Region. While participating in Coast Guard activities on Leech Lake, MN in 2005, Dick was instrumental in a rescue that later resulted in Dick being awarded the Silver Medal by the Association For Rescue At Sea. Dick loved his family, his work and his hobbies and remained meaningfully engaged in all of these until the end of his life on earth. Dick is survived by Phyllis (his wife of 50 years), his children: Christopher, Timothy (Stacey), Steven (Lori) and Christa, his brothers: Patrick (Alvina), and Michael (Anne Marie), his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Samuel, and Jacob, and countless friends, relatives, colleagues, and acquaintances. He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Joseph, and son Richard, Jr. He will be missed by all and his contributions remembered by many.
