Mass of Christian will be held on Friday July 9th at St. Joseph Catholic Church (1619 Washington Street, Grafton) at 12:00pm (Noon) for Dorothy W. Cowen of Grafton who was Born into Eternal Life on July 5, 2010 at the age of 96 years. Visitation will be held on Friday at church from 10:00am until the time of Mass. Memorials to the church appreciated. Entombment Monday July 12th at 12:00pm (Noon) at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. 1400 S. Wolf Road, Hillside, Illinois. Dorothy was born in North Dakota on November 15, 1913, the daughter of the late Henry and Ilva (nee Chance) Wittkopf. Dorothy was 1 of 8 children. Dorothy was united in marriage to Norbert E. Cowen and they were blessed with 3 children. Norbert died in 1972. She enjoyed gardening, canning and making quilts for her family. Dorothy retired from Western Electric Company in Illinois after many years. Dorothy is survived by her children; Richard, Donna (Joseph) Tinebra and Sandra Cowen, grandchildren; Richard Cowen, Christine Bergin, Paul (Susan) Tinebra, Tina (Thomas) Zausch, Donna (William) Wallock, JoMarie (Stanley) Dziewa, Joseph (Karla) Tinebra, Kenneth Voigt and Dawn Toy, great-grandchildren; Jeremy, Matthew, Maria, Christopher, Angela, Kathleen, Annie, Joseph, Laurie, Jacob, Adam, Haley, Josie, Jeffrey and Andrew, great-great grandchildren; Kaylee, Lucy, Noah and Kammie, brother; Warren (Eileen) Wittkopf, sister; Idalene (Woodrow) Hyatt. She is further survived by sisters-in-law Genevieve and Betty Wittkopf, brother-in-law; Ted (Laurie) Cowen, many other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her siblings; twin brother Durward, Bernard (the late Alice), James, Lillian (the late Frank) Roder, Pearl Lentz, sisters-in-law; Betty (the late Tom) McShane and Trudy (the late Roland) Schaefer. Memorials: Memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church appreciated. Cemetery: Committal Services Monday July 12, 2010 at 12:00pm (Noon) at Queen of Heaven Cemetery 1400 S. Wolf Road, Hillside, Illinois.
