Dorothy J. “Joan” Rogers, of Cedarburg, went to her heavenly home to be with her beloved husband, Dick, on December 30, 2015, at the Aurora Medical Center, in Grafton, at the age of 83 years. A visitation will take place at the Mueller Funeral Home, in Cedarburg, on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, from 4PM until 7:30PM. A visitation will also take place on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at the Funeral Home from 10AM until 10:45AM followed by a funeral service officiated by Rev. Colson Leach. Joan will be laid to rest immediately following the funeral service at Immanuel Cemetery, in Cedarburg. Memorials to Faith Baptist Church, in Port Washington, or to the Ozaukee County Humane Society are appreciated. Joan was born on March 21, 1932, in Escanaba, Michigan, the daughter of the late Harry Sinclair and the late Mildred Mae (nee Craig) Sinclair. She and her family lived in Kingsford, Michigan, and she graduated from Kingsford High School, in 1951. On April 25, 1953, Joan was united in marriage to her beloved Dick Rogers, in Kingsford, Michigan. Joan and Dick relocated to the Milwaukee area for a short time, and finally settled in Cedarburg, where they had resided for the past 49 years. In her earlier years, Joan was employed by Michigan Bell and Wisconsin Bell, working as a switchboard operator. After she and Dick were blessed with three children, Larry, Richard, and Joan, she stayed at home raising her children to be kind, loving, Christian people. Joan was very proud of her Scottish heritage, and taught her children to love and respect their heritage as well. Joan was a former member and chaplain for the Daughters of the American Revolution, a member of the Ozaukee Chorus, and a longtime active member at Faith Baptist Church, in Port Washington. Joan and Dick traveled abroad visiting 37 states, as well as Canada and Mexico. Joan was an avid Detroit Lion fan, which made the Packer/Lions games that much more exiting for the family. Although she was very active in her community, her true love was spending time with her family and just living every moment for them. Joan is survived by her children, Larry (Deborah) Rogers, Richard (Diane) Rogers, and Joan (Dan) Dufner; and grandchildren, Dan (Tonya), Carolyn (Josh), Katie (Jeff), Craig (Stephanie), Eric (Tera), Emily, and Jakob. She is further survived by her 20 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard “Dick” Rogers, just 27 days prior to her passing. They are now both joined together in their heavenly home. Joan was also preceded in death by her siblings, Craig Sinclair, Shirley Sorenson, and Harry Sinclair. The family would especially like to thank Sarah Haase, and the staff in the I.C.U., at Aurora Medical Center, in Grafton, as well as the cardiology team for all of their care and support.
