Dorothy E. Ott

Dorothy E. Ott passed away peacefully on March 25, 2018 at the age of 92. Dorothy was born to Peter and Emma (Hasche) Albers on April 28, 1925 in DeSmet, SD. She was always proud to tell others that she was born in the same city that Laura Ingalls had a homestead. She was always so proud to tell her stories of her birthplace. Dorothy was always at the service of others, helping whomever she could. She volunteered her time to many organizations and lived her entire life helping those in need. She also loved working out in her flower gardens. Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband William and son Robert. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Kathi (Jerry) Kowaleski and daughter-in-law Patty (Stoiber) Ott. She was the proud grandmother of Kimberly (Jim) Schmitt and Kevin (Jessica) Kowaleski and GiGi to Blake, Cole, Gracie, Benjamin & Zachary. She is further survived by brothers Arthur (Lorraine) Albers, Peter (Joan) Albers, nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and other relatives. Dorothy loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren more than life itself! We’d like to thank Pastor Turbin for coming back from retirement to commit Dorothy’s soul to her heavenly destination, just as he did for William and Robert. Thank you to all the staff at Lasata Crossings for the years she called it home and to Dr. Faust, Dr. Geiger and Lasata Care Center for all they did to make her comfortable. A special thanks to Debbie Retzer, NP and Compassus Hospice for their compassion in her final days. Your kindness and loving guidance is so appreciated! A private service was held at Zur Ruhe Cemetery. Blessed be her memory-Dorothy was loved and will never be forgotten!
