A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 13, 2010 2:30PM at Cedar Creek Community Church (1414 First Ave.), Grafton, for Dorothy Ellen Marshall (nee Bowles), 83, long-time resident of Grafton, who went home to be with her Father on April 9, 2010. Visitation at the church from 12:30PM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family appreciated. Dorothy was born on September 20, 1926, in Cairo, Illinois, to Dudley and Hilda (nee Nally) Bowles. She graduated from Collinsville Township High School in 1945. After high school, Dorothy met Charles Eugene Marshall. They were married on June 20, 1948, in Collinsville, Illinois and moved to Milwaukee in 1950. Later they moved to Grafton in December of 1957. Dorothy was always involved in the churches she attended. She was a founding member of Ozaukee Baptist Church and, when it dissolved in 2007, became a member of Cedar Creek Community Church. Dorothy taught Sunday School for over 30 years and at one point was also the Superintendent. She also was a member of White Cross and the Womens Group. Dorothy loved to pray and was a member of the churches prayer chains. Dorothy loved to dance with Charles, and they took lessons together. She also liked to garden. The vegetable garden helped stretched the family budget, and she also enjoyed her peonies. Bird watching also was an interest, especially cardinals. Dorothy liked sewing and doing crafts until her hands couldnt keep up any more. Dorothy loved children whether they were her grandchildren, great-grandchildren or those she taught in Sunday School. With anyone she met, she was a very warm, huggy person because people were important to her. Dorothy always had a big heart and no one was ever a stranger. Dorothy is survived by her loving children Linda (Luke) Racine, Charles Eugene (Karen) Marshall Jr., Janice (Christopher) McCann and Debra Haddad; cherished grandchildren Kara, Mica (Janie), Eric (Marcy), Beth Ann (fiance Jerry), Phillip (Darcy), Jeremy (Jenny), Benjamin, Joshua and Erin (Brian); great-grandchildren Halle, Evan, Henry, Carter, Karis, Della and Alexis; sister Catherine Ann Bowls; sister-in-law Virginia (the late Edward) Bowles and Marie (the late Bill) Marshall; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family appreciated.
