Dorothy C. Govek, 85, of Grafton, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020, at Horizon Lawlis Family Hospice, spiritually surrounded by family and friends. She was born on October, 27, 1935, in Sheboygan, WI to Peter and Mary (Siprak) Ognacevich. She graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1954. On October 20, 1956, she was united in marriage to Richard J. Govek, at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Sheboygan. It was there that the two met while attending grade school. They lived in Germany, Oklahoma, and Milwaukee, prior to settling in Grafton, WI where they raised their 7 children. She held a number of jobs, including bank teller, Tupperware lady, and retail, but her greatest passion was being a servant of God. Dorothy was a longstanding parishioner of St. Joseph’s Parish in Grafton where she taught religious education, sang in the choir, volunteered in the school, and led the Ministers of Care with her special heart for the lonely and elderly which led to playing the piano and singing for the residents at Lasata Nursing Home with a few good friends. Dorie was a loved daughter, niece, aunt, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, monna, nana and friend to many. She was especially proud of her family and would announce to anyone who would listen that she had been married for 64 years, had 7 children, 28 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. In addition to her family and friends, she took delight in her faith, angels, music, singing, playing piano, laughter, babies and pictures of babies, the color blue, catalogs, purses, Precious Moments figurines, greeting cards, camping, sweets, children’s stories and faith-filled books, coffee or lunch with friends. She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Richard, children; Elizabeth (Rollin) Kring of West Bend, Margaret (Ronald) Wollner of Cottage Grove, Andrew (Margaret) Govek of Grafton, Richard (Carrie) Govek of Verona, Edward (Janice) Govek of Grafton, Amy (Rick) Green of Germantown and Joanne (Kraig) Sadownikow of West Bend, grandchildren; Shaun (Erica) Kring, Justin (Heather) Kring, Katie Kring, Jacob, Hannah and Olivia Wollner, Alexandra, Danielle, Joshua and Benjamin (Alicia), Mary, Alaina, Melissa Govek, Max and Vivienne Metcalf, Grace and Ava Govek, Samuel, Adalyn, Emma and Lillian Green, Marianna, Isabel, Veronica and Ruth Sadownikow, great grandchildren; Ella, Eli, Ethan and Nolan Kring. She is further survived by her favorite in-laws Josephine Govek, Paul (Ann) Govek and Veronica and Raymond Schneider and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her 11 siblings; Anne Wilsing, Elias Ognacevich, George Ognacevich, Eva Repphun, Mary Ritchie, Michael Ognacevic, Stephen Ognacevic, Peter Ognavic, Katherine Reano, Rose Gaynor and George Ognacevich and brother in law Joseph Govek. Our deepest appreciation goes out to the doctors and nursing staff at Horizon Lawlis Family Hospice and Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital for their special care during her final days of life when family could not be with her. Thank you also to Dr. Shannon Reinbold and Nurse Sue at the Ascension St. Mary’s Clinic and the staff at Village Pointe Commons in Grafton where she was a resident.
