Donald T. Stielow “Don”, 82 A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at 3:00pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 701 Washington Street, Grafton for Donald T. Stielow “Don” of Grafton, Wisconsin. A visitation will take place on Sunday at church from 1:00pm until the time of Services. Rev. Scott Kruse will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Don’s name can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Organ Fund or Aurora Cancer Center in Grafton. Don went peacefully to his heavenly home and the arms of his Savior on Thursday, May 30, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Don was born on March 16, 1931 in Ames, Iowa, the son of Theodore and Verna (nee Oldenberg) Stielow. The family later moved to Des Moines, Iowa. Don attended Henry Wallace Grade School and Amos Hiatt Junior High. He was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and graduated from Des Moines East High School in 1949. He then completed 2 years at Grandview College before transferring to Iowa State College where he graduated on June 11, 1954 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He enlisted in the Army in April 1955 and was stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington State where he worked as a radio repairman, Specialist 3rd class. While on a weekend trip to Milwaukee in 1955, he met Musa Nuernberger and they were married June 9, 1956 in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. Mr. & Mrs. Don Stielow returned to Tacoma, Washington where they lived until April 1957, when they returned to Milwaukee. Their marriage was blessed with one daughter and two sons. Following honorable discharge from military duty, Don worked for 35 years at Square D Company until his retirement in 1988. Don, Musa and family moved to Grafton in 1964 and joined St. Paul Lutheran Church. Don was an active member of the congregation, serving on various boards and commissions over the past 41 years. He was a talented cabinet maker, photographer and enjoyed traveling. Most of all, Don treasured the company of family, fellow parishioners and friends. Don was the beloved husband of Musa (nee Nuernberger) for 56 years, devoted loving father of Susan (Randall) Metzger; Steven (Brenda) Stielow and Mark (Julie) Stielow. He was the proud and cherished grandfather of Ryan & Michael Grabczyk; David Stielow and Kaitlyn Stielow; step-grandfather of R. Chance Carter. Dear brother of Marilyn Knop and Ken (Donna) Stielow. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents and by brothers, Dean and Gary. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Aurora Medical Center in Grafton; especially Dr. Scott Maul and the staff of the cancer care center; as well as Dr. P. Hari and the staff of the bone marrow transplant unit at Froedtert Hospital. Don was the most kind & gentle person and will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched during the past 82 years. Cemetery: Private inurnment In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church Organ Fund or Aurora Cancer Care appreciated.
