Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 22, 2016 at 6:00pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1619 W. Washington Street in Grafton for Donald Proefrock “Don”, longtime resident of Grafton who passed away surrounded by family on Monday August 15, 2016 at the age of 85 years at Stone Haven in Grafton. Visitation will be held on Monday at the church from 4:00pm to 5:45pm. Interment at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Legion Rose-Harms Post #355 appreciated. Don was born in Thiensville, WI on February 23, 1931, the son of the late Edwin and Dora (nee Paske) Proefrock. He joined the US Army in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1953 during the Korean Conflict. He married Merecedes “Mitzi” Hilgart on August 6, 1955 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington, WI. They were blessed with 4 children. Don enjoyed bowling and trap shooting. In his early years up in Carter, WI he liked to hunt and fish. He was a shop foreman for JW Dickman for over 30 years. Don was a lifetime member of the American Legion Rose-Harms Post 355 and was past Commander. He was highly involved in tent rentals at the Post as well. Donald was a very proud Veteran. He was a member of the Forty et Eight, which is an invite only club. Don and Mitzi loved going to Anchorage, Alaska to visit the scenery and their son, Daniel. He was an avid walker, just loved to walk. His passion was to go to his grandchildrens sporting events. Don was a devoted husband, loving dad and a dedicated grand pa. He was a soft spoken man and was just a “Gentle Soul”. Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Mitzi; children, Daniel (Joanne), Sandra (Matt) Jones, Nancy (Robert) Poull and Dean (Michele); grandchildren, Anna and Dominic Proefrock, Nick (Laura) Kaddatz, Cara Jones, Casey (Susan) Haas, Jacob (Emily) Haas, Hayden and Elaine Proefrock, great-grandchildren Henry and Grace Haas, siblings; Eugene (the late Beverly), Jerry (the late Darlene), Harvey (the late Jeanie) and Carol (the late Victor) Lentz, other relatives and friends.
