Diane M. Markgraf

Diane Markgraf (nee Opitz) of Cedarburg WI passed while surrounded by the love of her husband and children on Wednesday February 1, 2017 at the age of 78. Diane was the middle child of Arthur and Beatrice Opitz, born on February 10, 1938. She grew up in Sheboygan WI, attended Sheboygan South High School. She met her late husband, Robert Markgraf, and they were married on August 10, 1957. They raised their children Michael, Lynn, and Steven to be hard working, respectful, and fun loving. Following the loss of Robert in 2004, she met Leo Zoeller and was married in 2011. She gained a loving travel partner and concert companion., and 4 more children to love as her own. Diane is survived by her Husband Leo, her children Michael (Kathy), Lynn (Frank), Steven (Michelle), Joseph (Mary), Jeffrey (Janelle), Brian, and Scott (Sarah). She loved spending time with her grandchildren Kristi, James, Daniel, Benjamin, Ryan , Allyson, Gregory, Chris, Ashley, Caleb, Conner, Quinn, and Kira. She is also survived by her older sister Aldona, her younger brother Carl, and many cousins which she loved visiting with at Cousins Lunch once a month. Diane was constantly on the go. She was born with a green thumb, was a wonderful cook, and an avid painter, sculptor, knitter and seamstress. She was also capable of pouring concrete house foundations, framing walls, and nailing roof shingles. Diane became a huge fan of Marquette Basketball, and loved going to the games with Leo. She traveled all around the world, enjoying new experiences and meeting new people. While at home, she loved watching her backyard gardens teeming with birds and butterflies, and meeting with her friends’ to play cards and bunko. She played dominos with the ladies of the Grafton Senior Center. She volunteered to help others through interfaith care givers and meals on wheels. She was an active member of her church, where she was part of the quilting group, helped at funeral luncheons, and served on the church council. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Mueller funeral Home, W63N527 Hanover Avenue, Cedarburg WI, 53012. Visitation will begin at 10am to 11:15am, Service at 11:30.
