Derald A. Rathke, lifelong resident of Cedarburg, found peace in his heavenly home on June 7, 2018 at the age of 82. Derald Albert George Rathke was born April 2, 1936 in Town of Trenton, WI the son of George and Esther (nee Tischer) Rathke. He graduated in 1954 from Cedarburg High School, was drafted into service, serving his country at 5th Army Headquarters in Chicago, IL. In 1960 he was united in marriage to Barbara (nee Moerschel). Together they raised 4 daughters. For 26 years Derald worked at Kiekhaefer Mercury Marine in Cedarburg and 18 years at EST in Grafton. Derald was always active in sports, from High School football to summer baseball including: Land O’ Lakes Northern Division, and Newburg and Cedarburg softball leagues. After his playing days, he umpired in several leagues. Other passions were hunting, fishing, gardening, crossword puzzles, and especially playing with his grandchildren! Derald will be sorely missed by his wife Barb and children, Robin (Karl) Roeske, Gay (Jeff) Bohne, Kristin (Dan) Ryan, and Heidi Guzek. He was a fun-loving grandpa to 15 grandchildren: Andy, Kirin, Tom, Erin and Claire, Will, Ben and Charlie, Annie, and Shananae, Journey, Water, Dancing, Jaylee, Galilee; and 4 great grandchildren: Elma, Elisa, Elanie and Everett. Survivors also include: his sisters: Sandra Hoffmann of West Bend, Susan Wittenberg (John) of Texas, Brother-in-law of Joanne (Norbert) Barelmann and Glenn (Barb) Moerschel, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 13 at 12:00 noon at First Immanuel Lutheran Church W67 N622 Evergreen Blvd. Cedarburg, WI 53012. The family will receive visitors at 10:00-11:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to First Immanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund or the Guardian Angel Fund are appreciated. “None of us lives to himself and none of us dies to himself. If we live to the Lord or die to the Lord; so then whether we live or whether we die we are the Lord’s." Romans 14: 7-8
