Clyde C. Wirth, known to many friends and family as “Boomer”, was born to eternal life on Monday, October 29, 2018. Clyde was the son of Hazel and Gustav Wirth born on June 8, 1931. Clyde spent most of his life in Cedarburg and the surrounding area. He graduated from Cedarburg High School in 1949 where he met the love of his life, Joan. After high school, he attended Carroll College in Waukesha where he earned a degree in business. Clyde and Joan were married in 1954 at Saint Francis Borgia Church. Under the guidance of his father-in-law, Adlai S. Horn, the owner and operator of The Cedarburg News Graphic, Clyde began to sell printing. Not long after, he opened his own lithography business; The Grafton Graphic doing commercial printing for area businesses. In the early 70's he expanded the business to Pioneer Road in Cedarburg as Graphic, Inc. With another expansion in the mid 1980’s, he continued with Wirth Press, Ltd. until he sold the company in 1998. His heartfelt gratitude to the anchors of his management team, Mickey Clemins and Tom Consolazione, has never been forgotten. Clyde was also very active in the local commercial real estate market. He developed multiple restaurants (The Jail House & The Fork Café), multifamily apartments, and industrial facilities. Clyde was the President of The Grafton Lion’s Club in the early 1960’s. He was also a charter member of the Cedarburg/Grafton Rotary, a member of Duck’s Unlimited, and a parishioner of Saint Francis Borgia Church. As an avid golfer, he belonged to West Bend Country Club and Hidden Glenn Golf Club where he golfed every week with several friends. When Clyde retired, he and his wife spent winter months in Naples, Florida. He loved to be able to golf whenever possible. Within his Florida Community, he was a member of the Board of Directors for his neighborhood. Throughout Clyde’s adult years, he adored being a private pilot. He spent many hours flying family and friends to their favorite destinations, and he loved every minute of it. Clyde was also a sportsman who traveled to Canada, Alaska, and Colorado to fish, hunt, and downhill ski with close friends. “The Gang” as they were known had many laughs and memorable experiences. Clyde loved life and lived his to the fullest! Work hard, play hard was a favorite saying, and he did just that. Clyde was the beloved husband of Joan Wirth for 57 years. He was the loving father of Mary Jo Wirth, Elizabeth Wirth, John (Holly) Wirth, and Kristin (Warren) Eickhorst. Clyde was also an outstanding grandfather to: Michael Wirth, Perry Wirth, Bennett Wirth, Alex Eickhorst, Matthew Eickhorst, Derrick (Yaowa) Hammetter and Nicholas (Liz) Hammetter. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Gus Wirth, his brother, Glenn, and his wife, Joan. Survivors include his children, brother, Gus “Sandy” Wirth, (Doreen), his nieces Melinda Wirth, Heidi (Shane) McAdams, and their children , Gladys and Wincie. He also leaves behind his cousins Joy Wirth, Earle Wirth, Helen Mae Sekas, Barbara Kuether Myers, Livia Hoffman and several others. The family extends their deepest thanks and gratitude to all of Clyde’s caregivers at McKinley Place in Cedarburg, his caregivers at Lasata Senior Living Facility, and the caregivers at Lawlis Family Hospice - Saint Mary’s Ozaukee in Mequon, Wisconsin. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday November 6, 4 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church 1619 Washington St. Grafton. Interment Zur Ruhe Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 2 – 3:45 PM.
