Clarice A. Buchholz

Clarice A. Buchholz, 97

Clarice A. Buchholz (nee Schmidt), of Cedarburg passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 3, 2024, after a very short complication of cancer. Clarice was the youngest and last surviving child of Charles and Clara (Krier) Schmidt. She was born in Port Washington on July 19, 1927. Clarice was united in marriage to the late Frank Buchholz on October 18, 1947. Together their sixty-five-year marriage was blessed with six children.

Clarice was known throughout Ozaukee County as a very accomplished designer and seamstress. The countless wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, prom dresses, suits and alterations made her the “go to” source even into recent years. As late as last week she was still sewing every day on her latest creations of button bracelets, purses and hot pads.

She was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 5373 and a lifetime member of the Ozaukee County Historical Society. Clarice was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Grafton for 77 years.

Clarice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank, her brothers Lester, Oscar, Melvin, Carl, Ralph, Nic and Myron Schmidt and sisters Olive Watry, Anne Watry and Carla Mueller as well as all her in-laws.

She is survived by her children Ken (Lucy) Buchholz, Allen (Cheri) Buchholz, Barb (Gary) Frank, Mary (Dennis) Jaeger, Pete (Mari) Buchholz, and Bill (Terri) Buchholz. She is further survived by her grandchildren John, Paul (Adrianna), Ben, Emily, Renee and Matt Buchholz, Bobbie (Ben) Recob, Marcie (Donny) Long, Brian Frank, Wendy (Dale) Peterson, David Jaeger and Mike (Erin) Jaeger. Clarice had seven great grandchildren including Finley, Sawyer, Veda, Jules, Teagan, Conor and Kenzleigh. She is further survived by many relatives and friends, nephews and nieces, especially Diane Denow and Denise Buchholz. Her friends and staff at Berkshire in Grafton and Lasata Crossings were very special to her, especially her friend Hilda Witte. The care by the staff at Aurora Hospital in Grafton was superior in the last days of her life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 12, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church (1619 Washington St.), Grafton at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will be at the church from 2:30 till 4:30. Interment will be in the church cemetery at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
