Clairmont W. Krueger went to be with the Lord on November 25, 2012 at the age of 90 at Heritage Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Port Washington. A celebration of Clairmont’s life will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton on Thursday, November 29 at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will take place prior to the service at St. Paul Lutheran Church from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pastor Kenton Wendorf will officiate the service. Interment Friday, November 30, 2012 10:00 a.m. with full military honors at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery, Grafton. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church History/Archives Fund are appreciated. Clairmont was born on March 18, 1922 in the town of Hamburg, Wisconsin. After growing up on the family farm, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII where he served as a radar operator on the USS Boyd D544 serving in the South Pacific theater. After the war, he returned to Grafton, Wisconsin where he married Doris E. Last on July 26, 1947. Their marriage was blessed with four children. Clairmont was an entrepreneur owning and operating a variety of businesses throughout his life. In the 1950’s and 1960’s, he owned and operated Mead’s Department Store in Merrill, Grafton Beer & Liquor in Grafton and Lakeside Beer in Liquor in Port Washington. In 1969, he began his career at Ambur Distilled Products as a salesman working throughout the State of Wisconsin where he remained until his retirement in 1984. After his retirement, he truly enjoyed the snowbird life wintering in Port Richey, Florida. Clairmont’s numerous past-times and hobbies included traveling the United States, fishing excursions to Canada, woodworking, remodeling, crosswords, cards, and spending time with his many friends. In recent years, he enjoyed traveling with his sons and son-in-law to his WWII U.S. Navy Ship reunions in San Diego, New Orleans and Washington D.C. Clairmont was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Doris (nee) Last. He is survived by his four children: Jon (Linda) of LaMesa, California; Jean (Phil) Steinke of Port Washington; Jim of Grafton; Julie (Jim) Lynch of Port Washington. Proud Grandfather of Libby (Brian) MacGillis, PJ (Meagan) Steinke, Olivia (Isaiah) Witt, Kristie (Matt) Nelson, Ryan Krueger, Katie Lee, Jake Rogers and Norah (Lucas) Koskovich. Dear Great-Grandpa of Jack, Nate, Charlotte, Willow, Hannah, Emma and Leah. Further survived by two brothers, nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends. The family would like to thank Clairmont’s special care providers at Horizon Inpatient Hospice, Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and a very special thank you to Kim and Donna from Horizon Home Hospice. Cemetery: Interment on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 10:00AM with full military honors to be conducted by the U.S. Navy.
