Chase C. Mantel

Chase Mantel With deepest sorrow, we want to announce that Chase Charles Mantel, age 26, died on Sunday, August 18, 2019, in the town of Flowering Branch, Georgia doing what he loved, riding his Harley with friends. Chase grew up in Cedarburg, where he attended Parkview Elementary, Webster Middle School, and Cedarburg High School. While he was in high school, Chase participated four years in cross country and track as a distance runner. Chase introduced crazy socks to both teams as a sophomore, and the trend grew among his teammates. In no time at all, the team’s crazy socks were ordered as part of the uniform. At the age of 17, Chase enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He participated in the early recruit program, in West Bend, and after he graduated, in 2011, Chase completed basic training in San Diego, California. He then went to combat training at Camp Pendleton, in California, and was relocated to Fort Leonard Wood, in Missouri, where he was trained as an MP. Chase was honorably discharged as a sergeant, in July of 2016. While in the Marines, Chase met the love of his life, Giana Fanelli, and they were united in marriage in 2017. They resided in their home, in Winder, Georgia, with their three dogs. Chase enjoyed hunting, traditional archery, shooting any type of gun, and also knives. He had a talent for crocheting hats, which many friends and family have in their closets today. Chase was a former member of Grace Lutheran Church, in Grafton, where he enjoyed participating in all of the junior youth group activities. Chase had a love for life…he could light up a room when he walked in, he was always positive, and he always saw the good in every situation. Chase was a good husband, son, brother, and a good man that will be missed deeply. Chase was born to Dean and Jodi Mantel. Jodi passed away in 2000, when Chase was only six years old. Dean remarried Paula Race where together they raised Chase and his five siblings, Kelsey, Tanner, Max, Luke, and Makenna. Chase is survived by his wife, Giana, parents, Dean Mantel and Paula Race-Mantel, siblings: Kelsey (Noah) Wilterdink, Tanner Mantel, Max Race, Luke Mantel, and Makenna Race; grandparents: Pat (the late Alvin) Mantel, Jim and Sue Meyer, Bob and Janice Hoffman, and Roger and Cathy Race; in-laws, Angelo and Cynthia Fanelli, sister-in-law, Alannah (Travis) Quick, brother-in-law, Angelo Fanelli Jr., and nephews, Jak and Porter Quick. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, many other relatives and friends. Chase was preceded in death by his mom, Jodi Mantel, grandpa, Alvin Mantel, and brother-in-law, Nico Fanelli. A Memorial Service honoring Chase’s Life, will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019, 3:00PM at Grace Lutheran Church (715 6th Ave.), Grafton. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, at the church, from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM. The Rev. Paul Bulgerin and the Rev. Heidi Borkenhagen will officiate the memorial service.
