Charles J. Goss passed away peacefully on October 25th. He was 74. Mr. Goss was born in Winona, MN on June 9, 1931, the only child of Charles and Cora Goss. He attended South Milwaukee High School where he enjoyed playing basketball. On October 21, 1951 he married Violet Janka. Mr. Goss had several occupations during his lifetime. He drove for Yellow Taxi in Milwaukee. He then worked for Line Material factory In South Milwaukee where he began as a window washer and worked his way to foreman. After the company was bought by McGraw Edison and moved to Mount Pleasant he became plant supervisor. He worked here for 27 years. In 1976 he moved his family to Grafton where they owned and operated Charlie and Vi’s tavern formerly known as Marv’s until 1989. His daughter Linda purchased the bar, renamed it Pleasure’s and operated it for 14 years. Linda said her father was “an excellent pool player.” He helped his team win several first place trophies when he was on his tavern’s pool league. In later years, he worked at Kapco in Grafton and then as a foreman for Woodlore in Port Washington until he retired to his Random Lake home. His son Chuck described him as an avid fisherman. Chuck his wife Jody and their two children would take a fishing vacation up north every year with his parents. He also enjoyed playing cribbage, sheepshead and watching football. He followed every team during the season, but the Packers were his favorite to watch. His son Greg said they used to hunt together and he’s very proud that he shot his first buck with his dad. He really loved his kids and was a family man. While they were growing up he spent his summers swimming, playing croquet and taking his family vacationing up north every year to a cottage on a lake. His daughter Kim said,”He always had a twinkle in his eye and was famous for his clever one-liners that made everyone laugh. He was a comical happy-go-lucky kind of guy who always gave good advice and was willing to listen.” Mr. Goss is survived by his wife Violet and children Linda Wahlgren, Charles Jody Goss, Greg Goss fiancé Wendilee, and Kim Nic Wiltgen. He is further survived by 8 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Laurie Peterson. Funeral services for Mr. Goss will be held at Mueller Funeral Home in Grafton. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. service beginning at 7. Mr. Goss will be buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grafton.
